Students will play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the iPad using an application.
Students will access content on the iPad
Pre-assessment: We will have students try to play the song on their own before we show them.
Content: Apps associated with music
Goals: Learn how to play music on the iPad using different apps.
Specific Activities: The class will be split into four groups (piano, xylophone, zampona, piano). The groups will rotate between teachers (4 minutes each). The last rotation will be the instrument the students play during the summative assessment.
Formative Assessment: Each teacher will assess their instrument group throughout the lesson.
Summative Assessment: The teachers will assess the group as a whole as the whole class plays Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Individual Blog Post:

Phase 1:  Reflection on planning process (How did you assign tasks, determine elements above? How do you feel about the process?)
Phase 2:  Reflection on teaching the lesson (What went right? Wrong? What would I do differently?)

Reflection
Phase 1:

In order to assign the tasks we found four music apps that we could teach the class. We then decided on who would teach which app. In order to determine the elements of our lesson plan we sat down as a group and discussed them. The process as a whole was interesting. We learned about each other as well as learning about a variety of musical instrument apps that are available on the iPad. The only drawback was that finding the apps that we are going to use was time consuming. In addition, we got caught up playing around on the apps during the first day, which caused us to not be as productive as we could have been. That being said, the entire process of planning this lesson was educational, entertaining, and exciting. I'm looking forward to our presentations on Wednesday.

Phase 2:

There were several things that went right while teaching the lesson plan. The class was easily separated into groups, and each member was able to practice a particular type of instrument. Another thing that went right was the timing of the lesson as a whole. We were able to start, implement, and finish with enough time for a great discussion before the end of class. Even though there were many good things about this lesson plan, there were several things that went wrong. For example, We had trouble getting the iPads to cooperate with us in the beginning. Also, there was some confusion as to how long each group would stay in each station, and where they would go next. As a result, there are some things that I would do differently next time. For one, I would ensure that the iPads functioned correctly, and had everything I needed on them. In addition, I would make sure that each group leader would have a timer so that they would know when to send their group to the next station. Finally, I would explain beforehand how the rotations would happen so that there would be a smoother transition from group to group.
